CLIMATE

Coastal region, except in Casamance area is of high humidity.  This area receives low rainfall as well.  Towards inland region, the climate differs sharply, becoming drier towards the east semi arid region. 

Wet season starts in June and lasts till September . Rainfall varies from 20 inches to 80 inches annually, the highest in Casamance region.  The country has periodic  droughts ; the Senegal river which used to cause flood havoc  in its valleys fell down to one third of its volume in 1972- 73 period. 

Temperature varies from 240 to 380 C  ( 750 F to  1000 F ) the highest in the north eastern desert regions.
