Air France flights make regular flights to Niamey.
Domestic Flights:
A domestic service is available from Niamey to Agadez, Arlit, Zinder
and Maradi.
Public Transport:
The public transport system is fairly
efficient and comfortable. but expensive. Most of
the city centers are connected . Private Taxis are also available in
plenty but as they are cheaper, they are always crowded.
Hitch hiking in private cars and lorries are
convenient but the rates have to be fixed in advance.
Self Drive / Hire Cars:
If you
intend to drive yourself, Rent-a-Cars are
available even though are a little expensive. Petrol
stations are very few on the road ; you have to see that your tank does
not get dried. During rainy season, some
tracks are likely to get muddy and difficult; a four wheel drive is the
best choice for the road. Right hand drive
is the norm; you should have international driving license . If you want to make use of
your own car, then you have to secure a special pass called Carnet de
Passage.
