 In The News

The Republic of Mali is rich in natural  resources.  minerals such as Iron Ore, Bauxite, Manganese, Tin, Uranium, Gold, Phosphatic rocks,  etc.   Most of its mineral wealth is yet to be exploited.

Mali is among the poorest countries in the world.  Main agricultural out put is Cotton.  And when the market price for cotton dips, Mali has to lean  heavily  on to the foreign assistance.

The only escape route open to Mali is in diversification of its economy.  Heavy investment is required in exploration and exploitation of proven reserves of minerals in the country.  IMF – recommended structural adjustment programmes and macro-economic measures have started to  help the economy grow and diversify.
