 CLIMATE

Guinea has mild climate which is Tropical. The sun’s position with regard to the Equator and the boundary between the moist southwesterly winds and the dry northeasterly winds result in the climatic variations from place to place in the country. In the North, the rains show their presence in March-April, with intermittent rain until August-September when the rains are at their best. In other areas rains occur from from April to June and from September to November.

Rainfall ranges from 30 to 80 inches a year

Temperatures range between 21°C and 32°C (70°F - 90°F). In most areas, temperatures are highest in March and lowest in August after the rains. Variation between day and night temperatures is relatively small, but greater in the north, especially in January, on account of the harmattan.

Relative humidity between 50% and 80%.

The harmattan, a dry desert wind, blows from the northeast from December to March reducing the humidity and the days become hot as compared to the cool nights, these winds affect the climate in the south during January.
