ECONOMY
Burkina Faso has a high
population density, is landlocked, has a fragile soil, lacks natural
wealth and the heart of the economy, agriculture is vulnerable to the
rains. All these reasons have put it in the list of some of the poorest
nations in the world. Unprofitable government-controlled corporations
dominate the industry. The African Franc devalued in January 1994 after
which conjunction with international agencies with regards to
development programmes has resulted in exports and economic growth.
